We would like to welcome you to the AMSE2024 Conference held by The Association of Medical Schools in Europe and organized by the School of Medicine of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, in Thessaloniki , Greece, on 17-19 October 2024.
The focus theme of AMSE2024 is “Educating for patient-centred and community-engaged healthcare”.
AMSE creates a forum for European Faculties of Medicine to share experiences and collaborate in the fields of education, research, management, and patient care. AMSE2024 seeks to inspire and engage students, educators, researchers, patients and community members in a vivid discourse regarding the challenges of health education and the need to foster its transformation to best meet the health needs of our communities in the future.
Embracing a culture of co-creation the AMSE2024 program comprises of conference activities designed and delivered by students, health educators, patients and carers in cooperation with other professional, governmental and non-governmental organisations and all stakeholders in health education, research and patient care. Person and people-centred integrated healthcare, health - professionals wellbeing, trauma-informed health care and education, patient safety, health education for inclusivity and diversity, the evolving patient-physician-AI dynamics and changing health education curricula to meet community health needs are among the topics that will be discussed along with what students as future physicians, consider relevant and important for health education.
During a discussion at the Association for Medical Education in Europe (AMEE) conference in Athens in 1979, it was agreed that there was a need for a forum in Europe for medical schools and this lead to the birth of AMSE. The conference and the AMSE General Assembly will provide the participants the opportunity to learn more about the AMSE initiatives and activities to foster excellence, social accountability and responsiveness of Medical Schools in Europe.
